How do we lose our energy? Why you feel tired all the time

You probably heard about chronic fatigue syndrome, when a person feels worn out both mentally and physically. There is no power within to overcome stress, no desire whatsoever to achieve goals, just a feeling of emptiness and exhaustion. And this condition persists even after a good rest.

The main causes are considered to be the following: the presence of viruses in the body, chronic diseases, and inflammatory processes, a constant lack of sleep, and prolonged psychological and emotional stress.

To create significant life changes, you need not only a good plan and taking regular steps towards your goal. Enough energy, self-discipline, and an optimistic mindset are just as important. Let’s talk about how we lose our energy, that power within that drives us to good things in life.

1) The habit of suppressing unwanted feelings or thoughts, when you are gulping down resentment, suppressing anger or fear, trying to erase painful memories, or getting rid of intrusive thoughts. It is also avoidance of negative emotions when you don’t allow yourself to feel whatever is burning inside your body when you want to be only positive and productive and try to swipe away any other feelings which are on the way of it.

Just keep in mind that by doing all these things mentioned above you waste a huge amount of your life energy but all those suppressed feelings and thoughts do not disappear, they continue to live in your unconscious mind trying to get to you. So you have to spend even more energy to keep them under control.

2) Excessive self-control and hyper-vigilant state. When you are trying hard to be liked to fit in you most likely have high expectations of yourself: how you look, what is your facial expression at any given moment, what you say and you respond to different things in public, – this excessive control drains your energy faster than you can imagine.

The other thing is your hyper-vigilance when you are very sensitive to how other people feel about you, and if they pose any threat (real or imaginary, especially a threat to be rejected or devalued). It’s like a scanner within you monitoring the environment 24/7 in case there is any threat to your life or well-being, your self-worth, or your reputation.

3) Ruminations. It is a habit of going over and over some past situations or dialogues where you felt hurt, humiliated, devalued, or rejected to come up with some sort of solution to how you could have acted or responded differently in a healthier and more socially appropriate way than you did before. It is also about trying to find an acceptable explanation for other people’s behaviors so you don’t feel hurt, unlovable, insignificant, or incompetent.

4) Constant irritation and anger over little things, growing jealousy towards others.

5) A habit of gossiping about other people’s lives or judging and criticizing them.
