Unconscious intentions design your destiny
Sometimes it’s necessary to stop running through life for a moment and wonder if that’s where you are heading. Are you moving towards your goals, or are you getting further and further away from them every day? If you used to believe that you don’t have goals and don’t know what you want, I would say the following:
⠀
⇒ You definitely have goals, but you are not aware of them.
Let’s work through this complicated matter together. And here’s your first task: look back at your life and imagine for a minute that this is not your life but one of your friend’s. What goals are they trying to achieve? What do they think about most of the time? How do they feel about his life? What do they dream about? What’s their day made up of?
If you cannot achieve what you want for a long time, then your unconscious intentions are most likely interfering in your life. Those intentions might be just the opposite to your goals, and they are strong enough to prevent you from getting where you wish to be.
You might want to become rich and successful, but there is another part of you that believes that such a goal is a threat to your safety and your life will become turbulent and unhappy if you achieve it. Therefore that scared part of you should do everything to prevent you from reaching this “wonderful” future. And no matter how much you visualize your dream, if you have an unconscious intention to stay in a familiar and safe environment, keep your head down to avoid stress and problems, then all your actions in pursuit of success will bump into internal resistance.
Some examples of unconscious intentions and limiting beliefs which are worth giving up:
⠀
⇒ To be unhappy and miserable, proving with your own example that life is hard and there’s nothing to be happy about.
⇒ Do not stand out and live like the majority of people (usually like your family and friends). This way you might protect yourself from jealousy and avoid rejection. Moreover, with such a life strategy there is no need to overcome the fear of change and leave the familiar environment.
⇒ To avoid stress and failure at all costs. In other words, try not to embarrass yourself in front of other people, to avoid criticism and mockery. No matter that you are unhappy. If you feel safer leaving things as they are, you will keep on doing it.
⇒ To avoid taking more responsibility (“what if I won’t handle it, and things will only get worse?”), earn more money (you might believe that money brings lots of problems). Therefore, it is better to stay in an uncomfortable but familiar environment rather than risking to change something in your life.
⇒ To reject and undervalue yourself. To reinforce your low self-esteem with actions like sacrificing your time and interests for others, underestimating your work, do not give yourself a second chance, to criticize and blame yourself on a regular basis.
⇒ To keep a toxic relationship where you are being cheated on and disrespected just to persuade yourself once again that all relationships are painful and that there are no worthy men/women left.
Unfortunately, the list could go on and on, everyone has their own life story. Again, all mentioned behaviors are mostly unconscious and they reflect people’s negative beliefs like “I don’t deserve a better life”, “I’m worthless”, “I’m incompetent”, “I don’t deserve to be loved” and so on.
